Dell + Purolator = Ugh

Turns out my Dell 1905FP was ready for delivery on 21st December but I only got it on the 30th! Here’s the story:

They tried to call me on the 21st to get my buzzer code, somehow the call didn’t go through (I had no missed calls), they returned the package to the depot and left it there until the 29th, when they called me again. They wouldn’t be able to deliver it until sometime in the new year, so I just went screw it and picked it up myself from the depot. I was pretty peeved when I saw the tracking details with “Address Correction Required” listed for 8 days in a row.

Guess I shouldn’t complain about free shipping, especially during the Christmas rush. The 1905FP is now $359 ($10 less than what I got it for) during their Boxing Week sale, while the 2001FP, which is the 4:3 21″ monitor (1600×1200 baby!) is only $594! That’s a great deal for a monitor that seldom goes on sale as usually it’s the 2005FPW that is on cheap.

Great monitor though, the DVI connection, together with ClearType enabled, makes for a really clear picture as compared to my 17″ Flatron CRT next to it. ClearType makes such a big difference it’s not even funny. Before ClearType, everything looked pixelated and just ugly. Now it’s much more readable. It even has 4 USB 2.0 ports, not too shabby for $359!

Anyway, if anybody knows how to include a buzzer code on a packing slip so they can buzz up without having to call you first, leave me a comment, I’d like to know!
