Group E is another difficult group to qualify from, with the Czech Republic, Italy and the USA vying for 2 spots. The USA will have every right to be unhappy with their lacklustre performance against the Czechs. If they continue playing like this, that ridiculous 5th-in-the-world FIFA ranking won’t last much longer. Arsenal have got quite a bargain in Tomas Rosicky too, judging by his fantastic performance against the Americans. The Americans now face the Italians next, and they’ll need at least a draw to keep their hopes alive.
First-timers Ghana posed little problems to the Italians, who dispatched them effortlessly with goals by Andrea Pirlo and Vincenzo Iaquinta. They should be a piece of cake for the Czechs too, which will leave us with a fantastic final day in Group E, with the Czechs and Italians facing off against each other.
