I was expecting the Spain vs Ukraine game to be a closely-fought one but it turns out I was absolutely wrong! 2-0 down in the first twenty minutes, the Ukrainians never really recovered and although the sending off of Vladislav Vashchuk was harsh, it was enough to seal their fate. The resulting penalty was converted, and Fernando Torres added the nail in the coffin right at the death.
The second game of Group H was much closer, with Tunisia scoring in the third minute of injury time to escape with a draw against Saudi Arabia. The Tunisians looked like the better team for most of the game, and a draw is probably a fair result.
Interestingly enough, the Ukrainians are dead-last in Group H now. They were obviously not used to the high temperatures, and they’ll have to adapt quickly or go home early.
