Tirerack rocks

With the Canadian dollar as strong as it is now, buying things from the US has suddenly become much more affordable. When I got a flat tire a couple of weeks ago, I looked to The Tire Rack to get my next set of tires. It was a shootout between the budget-conscious Kumho ASX and the more performance-oriented Pirelli PZero Nero. In the end the Pirellis won out despite being $30 more expensive per tire. Sounds like a lot, but the actual cost per tire for 215/40R17 was only USD$114! Including UPS shipping to my doorstep (USD$68) which only took 3 days to arrive, my total bill from Tire Rack was only USD$524. Including the standard UPS ripoff brokerage fee, taxes and duties (a total of $167 payable to UPS), my total bill in Canadian dollars came to be just $750! That is about $100 cheaper than what I would pay in Canada.

Shopping online this time was a suprisingly pleasant experience, I’d definitely recommend going through The Tire Rack for your next set of tires!

You have 17 inch rims on your mp5 now?! Damn!

Tires are seriously way cheaper i paid 360 Ringgit for 1 tire, bought a pair for Sumitomo’s for 720 arrrr…..

Does your car feel slower though with larger size rims?!

I have had 17s for about 2 years already I think!

I don’t think they carry Sumitomo here at all haha… and yes the car feels slower off the line for sure. Grip in corners is much improved though (going from 195 to 215 width).

It’s good to know that some things are actually cheaper from the US! All we hear about are prescription drugs.
