[...] The quality of Singaporean/Malaysian food in Vancouver is improving all the time, thanks to new upstarts like Prima Taste and good old favorites like Cafe D’Lite. Add another one to the list, and I definitely hope this one hangs around… because it is pretty damn good! [...]

Hi thanks for the comment! I've only been to the old Orchid Delight across from BCIT a long time ago, but I do remember it being quite good. As far as chicken rice goes, I think Cafe D'Lite on W Broadway & Trutch (near the Swiss Chalet) is great too. Their rice isn't anywhere as good as Prima, while their chicken is equally excellent.

I've never been to Tamarind Hill. it does sound like it is worth trying, and it's definitely on my list of restaurants to try next!

Hi, i stumbled across your blog googling for laksa in vancouver. i agree that prima has some very good dishes and some...not so very good. and i hope they stick around for a while as we can never have too many singapore/malaysian restaurants in vancouver.

some other good singapore/malaysian restaurants that you might want to try
1. orchid delight on burrard - i like the chicken rice and seafood mee goreng
2. tamarind hill in new westminster - i've tried the char kway teow, fried hokkien mee and mee goreng and think that they are quite good. i hear the chicken rice is good too and i will try that next time.

[...] Just a quick update on Prima Taste… we went again a week ago and this time we knew what to order. We skipped the green beans ordered the excellent laksa again, as well as chicken satay, roti prata and the chicken rice platter. [...]
